Description

Rain drummed on windows relentlessly as thick clouds claimed the waning gibbous as their own. Streets were mostly empty, when usually at this hour the districts were bursting with life. If peeking through windows, one could quickly figure out that people were using the bad weather to sleep off any missed dreams. One of the apartments had dark furniture where there even was any. On a thick, dark grey mattress slept a creature. For many, he was a freak, a monster. Living in such a hostile world wasn't a treat nor easy; surrounded by the most hateful and violent creatures of all – people. Slumme was his getaway and sanctuary. His breathing sounded slightly mechanical, as it softly echoed in the minimally furnished apartment. A small, light, furry creature stepped forward from the shadows, walking on two legs. Its hide carried black markings, giving out dim light from various white spots on its fur. She was a kukuri, bought from the annual kukuri market by Maxuss earlier that week. The light creature tilted its head slightly and snorted silently, observing the sleeping wyfex, who had named her Ruoto. She glanced at the window and unsuccessfully tried to pin her floppy ears to her neck. Rain wasn't really her favorite thing to say the least. She had been separated from her sister at the market – even though Ruoto was always teasing and bullying her sister, she was dear to her. Now she was alone and the only thing that at least somehow resembled a living thing near her was this biomechanical thing, sleeping on a mattress, half covered by a strange, black rag. Hesitating a bit, Ruoto hunched and tiptoed carefully to the man. She didn't really like him that much; handling her with confidence and not letting her bite him. However, the sound of violent rain made her really uneasy and a thought of getting near him wasn't that nasty anymore. Ruoto sniffed Maxuss carefully and took a step back; no reaction. She moved a bit and repeated this a few times, until she had circled to his backside. As carefully as she ever could, she took a step onto the rag, covering the enhanced wyfex. She glanced at him, if he would wake up. Still no reaction, so the kukuri continued, all the way until she reached a spot that felt comfy to sleep in. She curled into a ball of black and white fur, as she happened to glance at a wooden shelf, screwed onto the white, stained wall. The light bookend with a hollow stare had a strange feeling to it. It was made of marble and looked like something that could resemble a ram horned kukuri. Whatever it was, Ruoto had found another thing she didn't like. She let out an annoyed snort as she lied her head down onto Maxuss' ribs and let her tail fall down from his side. As that eerie statue of a creature watched them, the young kukuri slowly fell asleep. Others' monster was now her comfort.
